Tochangethebattery，thelowerTron40Sassemblyisreplacedwithanewone.ThebatterymoduleconsistsofthecompletelowerhalfoftheTron40GPSandistobereplacedevery5.year.Themarkingonthebatterymoduleshowtheexpirydate.AnewbatterycomescompleteandiseasilyreplacedbyopeningtheequatorringbetweenthetopandbottomoftheEPIRB.ThebatterymustbereplacediftheEPIRBisactivatedforanypurposeotherthantest.
Replacingthebatterymoduleshouldbedonebyskilledtechniciansonly-preferablebyaJOTRONagent.YourclosestJOTRONagentwithTronSTATfacilitieshasbeenspeciallytrainedtoperformthenecessaryoperationandisalsoabletodoanextendedtestoftheEPIRB，ensuringthattheEPIRBoperateswithinthespecifications.
1.  RemovetheEPIRBfromitsbracket.
2.  Removetheequatorringbypressingitoutfromthehousing.
3.  SeparatethetwohalvesoftheEPIRBhousing.
4.  Unplugthe6pinconnectorthatcomesfromthelowerEPIRBhousing.
5.  Controlthatthenewbatterymoduleismarkedwithp/n97780andhasanewexpi rationdateapproximately5yearsfrompurchase.
6.  Fitanewgasketontopofthebatterymoduleandreconnectthe6pinconnector，besurethattheconnectorisfittedproperly.Anoticeable?click?shouldbeheard whentheconnectorisinplace.
7.  Pleasemakesurethattheenclosedsilicagelbagisfastenedinsidetheemergencyproduct，withthesuppliedstripsinto/betweenholesintheblackcover.
     IMPORTANT:CutthestripsX-96898aftermountingofsilicageltoavoidthestrips
     tocomebetweenrubbergasketandtophousing.
8.  Pleasealsofittheenclosedanticorrosionadhesivetapetotheinsidethebattery
     beforeassemblyoftheunit.
9. OrientatethetwohalvesoftheEPIRBthefollowingway:
     AnorientationtabisfittedonbothhalvesoftheEPIRB，Thesetabsmustbeplaced
     carefullyontopofeachother.
10.Makesurethatthegasketisproperlyinplace，andreplacetheequatorringusing
     aspecialtooltotightenittogether.
11.ReplacetheU-shapedboltandanewsplitpintosecuretheboltintheequatorring.
